OREANDA-NEWS To resolve the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, it is important to avoid attempts by third parties to be present in the Caucasus. This condition was called by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.

"The main thing is to avoid attempts by third parties in vain, without the existing mediation potential to fix their presence in the Caucasus," he stressed.

At the same time, according to Peskov, the Kremlin will welcome the efforts of third parties to reduce tensions and "integrate the Armenian population of Karabakh into a new reality." But this requires the consent of all parties, the spokesman added.

Earlier, Peskov said that the future of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh has not yet been determined, Moscow is discussing it with Azerbaijan. "It is unlikely that anyone will be able to say this yet, because they are actually there now on the territory of Azerbaijan. We continue our contacts with Baku," the Kremlin representative said in response to a question from journalists.

He added that the peacekeepers provide assistance and are present at the negotiations between the Armenians of Karabakh and the Azerbaijani authorities.
