OREANDA-NEWS The Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian refused to further participate in the World Chess Cup which is taking place in Sochi. He announced this on his Facebook page.

“It is with great regret that I have to announce my withdrawal from the current World Cup”, - Aronian wrote. Despite my great desire to continue playing, due to the high temperature and tonsillitis, I need to be rational and first of all think about my health and the health of other participants".

“I would also like to personally thank the President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich for taking all measures to help me in all matters. I hope that the tournament will go smoothly, and I promise to recover soon and return to the magical world of chess”, - he added.
