OREANDA-NEWS  The volume of mutual trade between Russia and Mongolia increased by a quarter in the first two months of 2025. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with his Mongolian counterpart Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, who arrived in Moscow. His words are quoted by TASS.

As the head of state noted, the trade turnover between the two countries, which increased by 17.5 percent last year, increased by more than 25 percent at the beginning of this year. "Mongolia is our important trading partner," Putin stressed, noting the importance of cooperation in the energy sector for the partners.

The fact that trade between Moscow and Ulaanbaatar has become much more active was previously mentioned by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who called Mongolia a strategic partner of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Russian president also noted that settlements between Russia and Mongolia are now "almost completely carried out in alternative currencies to the dollar and euro."
