OREANDA-NEWS Smartphone sales in China collapsed by 23 percent year-on-year in January. This is stated in the report of the analytical company Counterpoint Research.
The authors of the study attributed the collapse of the indicator by almost a quarter to high demand and subsidies at the beginning of 2025, as well as to the postponement of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Last year, this key holiday for the country was celebrated on January 29, and in 2026, the lunar calendar year of the horse is expected on February 17.
Thus, it turns out that this time most of the gifts will be purchased in February, and not in January. The New Year itself will be celebrated from 17 to 22 February, and the country's stock exchanges will remain closed from 16 to 23 February.
