OREANDA-NEWS During the first week of the Coin Week campaign, Russians exchanged 2 million 460 thousand coins worth more than 9.3 million rubles, RIA Novosti found out after interviewing credit organizations.
Earlier, the Bank of Russia reported that the Coin Week campaign for the exchange of small change for paper money runs from April 7 to 19. As last time, not only banks, but also chain stores participate in it. In addition, bank branches have the option to transfer the amount to your account.
"The Coin Week campaign has confirmed its popularity in the offices of the Rosselkhoznadzor. The campaign promotes the return of coins of the Bank of Russia to circulation and the formation of financial literacy of the population. Over the past week, about 2 million pieces of coins worth about 8 million rubles were accepted at the offices of the RSHB. The most popular option remains the exchange of coins for banknotes. Taking into account the dynamics of the first days and the activity of the participants, the RSHB predicts that about 3.5 million coins worth at least 15 million rubles will be collected as part of the campaign," the press service said.
The press service of the PSB reported that during the first week of the campaign, more than 300 thousand coins of various denominations totaling over one million rubles were collected through the PSB branches. The smallest exchange transaction in the PSB was carried out in the amount of 32 rubles, the largest was 105 thousand rubles. "Taking into account the interest of citizens in the campaign and our wide network, we expect that during the Coin Week, at least 600 thousand coins worth over 3 million rubles will be collected through the PSB offices," they noted.
"The promotion is in demand among Zenit Bank's clients. At the moment, customers have already exchanged more than 50 thousand coins worth more than 200 thousand rubles," commented Yulia Myagkova, head of the Cash Management Department at Zenit Bank.
In the press service of the bank "Dom.RF" reported that during the first week of the campaign, the bank's customers exchanged more than 60 thousand coins. It is noted that most of the coins were received in Moscow, Tver, Perm and Tula, and most often coins of large denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 10 rubles are handed over. The press service of OTP Bank reported that 50,757 pieces of coins have already been collected, with a total weight of 196 kilograms, totaling 132,955 rubles.
"About 120,000 coins were accepted in the first two days. This number will grow as it progresses... We hope to break the previous record and accept more than 2,500,000 coins," the Gazprombank press service said.
VTB predicts that during the current Coin Week, customers will bring no less change to the exchange than in previous periods - namely, more than 2 million coins worth over 9 million rubles.
The banks surveyed also reported that the campaign is popular among the population and most often Russians prefer to exchange coins for banknotes and commemorative notes rather than credit them to their account.
