A court in Moscow fined Viber 800 thousand rubles

OREANDA-NEWS The Magistrate's court in Moscow fined the Viber messenger 800 thousand rubles for non-compliance with the requirements of Russian legislation on information protection, RIA Novosti was informed in court.
"The justice of the peace of the judicial district No. 422 of the Tagansky district of Moscow found Viber Media S.ar.l guilty of committing an administrative offense under part 1 of Article 13.39 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, and an administrative penalty was imposed in the form of an administrative fine in the amount of 800 thousand rubles," the court said.
This article introduces liability for non-fulfillment of duties by the organizer of the instant messaging service and provides for a fine of up to one million rubles.
