OREANDA-NEWS   Seismologists have registered a magnitude 5.4 earthquake in the Avacha Bay off the eastern coast of Kamchatka, the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reports on its website.

The earthquake occurred on Friday night. Its epicenter was located 78 km south-east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The source was located at a depth of 62 km under the seabed.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in various areas of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, this earthquake was felt with a force of up to four points.

On July 30, the strongest earthquake of magnitude 8.8 since 1952 occurred off the eastern coast of Kamchatka. Residents of a number of settlements felt tremors of up to eight points, and a tsunami alert was issued in the region.
