OREANDA-NEWS The cycle of reducing the key rate, according to the forecast of the Bank of Russia, will last for the whole of 2026. This was stated by the head of the regulator, Elvira Nabiullina, at a joint meeting of the State Duma committees to consider the main directions of monetary policy for 2026-2028, RIA Novosti reports.

She recalled that the Central Bank began easing monetary policy in June, since which time the rate has decreased from 21 percent to 16.5 percent.

According to Nabiullina, the Central Bank's actions are based on the need to end the period of high price growth as soon as possible in order to prevent the economy from hypothermia.
