OREANDA-NEWS Vladimir Zelensky's abrupt change in rhetoric on Ukraine's accession to NATO is a reason to stall for time. This was stated by State Duma Deputy Dmitry Belik, whose words cites Life.ru .
"Zelensky is terrified of losing power, and he needs a break to stabilize the front, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not in a good position. Therefore, he is stalling for time and arranging a bargain," the parliamentarian explained.
According to him, abandoning the topic of NATO does not mean that Zelensky is really ready for real compromises on the issue of the Ukrainian conflict.
Earlier, Zelensky proposed to abandon Ukraine's desire to join NATO in exchange for security guarantees from the West. The Ukrainian leader called the change of position a compromise on the part of Kiev. He stressed that alternative security guarantees should be legally binding.
