OREANDA-NEWS The duration of Russian women's maternity leave (as previously reported, only two percent of men in the Russian Federation enjoy the right to take it) dropped in 2024 to a minimum of 24.9 months in almost 15 years, that is, a little more than two years. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to Rosstat data.

At the same time, in comparison with the results of the previous comprehensive monitoring of the living conditions of the population, which is carried out every two years, the indicator has significantly decreased. In 2022, it was 28.5 months. Thus, on average, Russian women began to leave maternity leave about 3.5 months earlier.

It is also noted that after parental leave, more than three quarters of them (75.9 percent) return to their previous place of work, while the rest find jobs elsewhere, which is most often due to the need to change their work schedule.

It also became known from the same Rosstat materials that the gap in income satisfaction between men and women decreased last year to the lowest in the history of observations of 3.2% — 62.8 against 59.6%.
