OREANDA-NEWS The aggressive policy of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance forces Russia to take compensatory military-technical measures. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, TASS reports.

"The above not only creates serious obstacles to a constructive dialogue on nuclear disarmament and control of such weapons, but also forces other countries, including Russia, to take compensating military-technical measures," the diplomat said.

Ryabkov also called the policy of NATO countries "hostile," noting that it could lead to a "head-on clash of nuclear powers." He also called the development of schemes and means of the so-called joint nuclear missions of the military bloc, which include expanding the geography of the American nuclear presence in Europe, one of the negative factors.

On October 13, NATO began conducting the annual Steadfast Noon military exercises with simulated use of nuclear weapons. According to the Secretary General of the alliance, Mark Rutte, the exercises are an "important demonstration" of the nuclear deterrent potential and send a clear signal to any opponent that the bloc "can and will defend all allies."
