OREANDA-NEWS  U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has told Washington's European allies that President Donald Trump's administration will maintain anti-Russian sanctions until an agreement is reached to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This is reported by the Bloomberg agency, citing sources.

It is known that the official outlined this plan during a telephone conversation with his European colleagues on the eve of February 18. The talks took place after a meeting with Russian representatives in Riyadh, where the parties discussed the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier, following talks with Russia in Riyadh, Rubio said that after the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, Western countries would have to lift sanctions against Russia. At the same time, the European Union will also have to reconsider its sanctions policy.

Prior to that, Rubio named the necessary conditions for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He stressed that difficult diplomacy would be needed to achieve peace.
