OREANDA-NEWS Russia, after talks between its President Vladimir Putin and US special envoy Steve Witkoff, has become more committed to a ceasefire in Ukraine. This is how Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky assessed the results of their conversation on his Telegram channel.

"It seems that Russia is now more committed to a cease-fire. The pressure is on them. But the main thing is that they don't deceive us in detail, neither us nor the United States," he said.

Zelensky had previously confirmed a telephone conversation with American leader Donald Trump. He stressed that European leaders also took part in the conversation.

On August 6, Putin and Witkoff held talks in the Kremlin, the meeting lasted about three hours. Among the topics discussed were the conflict in Ukraine and the prospects for the possible development of strategic cooperation between Russia and the United States.
