OREANDA-NEWS   It is important to ensure the logistical infrastructure around the international airport in Gorno-Altaisk, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

During his working trip to the Altai Republic, Mishustin met with the head of the region, Andrei Turchak.

"A decision was made last year, we were just discussing this, about the construction of a modern airport, now an international one. Funds are available, planned, and investors are available. And it is very important to ensure, of course, all the complex buildings around, both logistical and transport hubs, roads, and maintenance," Mishustin said at the meeting and asked how these works were going.

Turchak, in turn, reported that a modern international checkpoint has already been opened on the territory of the airport terminal.

"The tourist flow is growing, and the airport infrastructure can no longer cope with it. Therefore, by 2028, as part of the concession agreement, we will complete the modernization of the entire airfield infrastructure and build a new terminal," Turchak said. He also noted that the regional authorities plan to increase passenger traffic to 1.3 million passengers per year by 2030.
