OREANDA-NEWS In the event of a change in Moldova's political vector, Russia is ready to resume cooperation, including in agricultural products and the supply of mineral fertilizers, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said.
"In case of a change in the political vector in Moldova, we are ready to develop joint cooperation, including in terms of agricultural products and supplies of mineral fertilizers. In general, we expect that the positions of the Moldovan authorities regarding regular contacts with the Russian Federation will be adjusted," Patrushev said at a meeting with representatives of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), the Heart of Moldova and the Future of Moldova parties.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that supplies to Russia had decreased by almost a third, taking into account the fact that fruit and vegetable products, which are in demand on the Russian market, usually form the basis of Moldovan exports.
Patrushev pointed out that after Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the European Union, the trade turnover between Moscow and Chisinau sharply decreased. "In 2024, compared to 2023, it decreased by almost 44%, and since the beginning of 2025, the decline has already been about 70% compared to the same period last year," he concluded.
Besides Patrushev, the Russian side is represented at the meeting by Sergei Dankvert, Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Alexander Pankin, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Maxim Markovich, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, and Vyacheslav Smolensky, Deputy head of Rospotrebnadzor. The Moldovan side is represented by Igor Dodon, leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), Irina Vlah, head of the Heart of Moldova party, and Vasily Tarlev, leader of the Future of Moldova party.
