OREANDA-NEWS  In Novokuznetsk, the chief physician and the acting head of the department of intensive care and intensive care for newborns and premature babies of Novokuznetsk City Clinical Hospital No. 1 were detained in the case of the deaths of nine newborns, the Investigative Committee reported.

Depending on the role of each individual, they are suspected of negligence (Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code) and causing death by negligence to two or more persons due to improper performance of professional duties (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code).

A day earlier, it was reported that the chief physician of Novokuznetsk City Clinical Hospital No. 1, Vitaly Heraskov, was suspended from his post for the duration of all inspections initiated after publications about the deaths of infants during the New Year holidays.

Investigative actions are currently being carried out with the suspects, the Investigative Committee said. The issue of charging them and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.

"Victims and witnesses have already been questioned in the case, medical, personnel and other documents of interest to the investigation, as well as electronic media have been seized. Nine commission forensic medical examinations have been appointed. The investigators continue to work on collecting the evidence base," the report says.
