OREANDA-NEWS  Since 2015, the world's richest people have earned $33.9 trillion. Oxfam reports on the growth of their condition.

Before the UN Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, the organization's analysts estimated that the wealth of one percent of the richest people on the planet has multiplied in real terms amid record cuts in humanitarian aid. In 2026, financing for the poorest countries will decrease by a third compared to 2024, the sharpest decline since 1960.

Over the past ten years, the wealth of three thousand billionaires has grown by 6.5 trillion dollars, to 14.6 percent of global GDP. From 1995 to 2023, private capital increased by $ 342 trillion - it grew eight times more than state assets (their growth amounted to 44 trillion).

While the wealth of the rich is growing, more than half (60 percent) of the poorest countries are on the verge of a debt crisis, spending more on servicing their debts than on healthcare and education. At the same time, private creditors are exacerbating the situation by refusing to restructure and imposing harsh conditions.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI), the total wealth of Russia's richest entrepreneurs has increased by $22.5 billion since the beginning of 2025. Of the 500 richest people in the world, 22 are Russians. Vladimir Potanin, the owner of Norilsk Nickel, has earned the most since the beginning of the year. His net worth is $31.7 billion (plus $3.82 billion). Metalloinvest shareholder Alisher Usmanov has become $3.7 billion richer, and now his capital is $16.9 billion. Vagit Alekperov, co-owner of Lukoil, has increased his net worth by $561 million to $25.9 billion since the beginning of the year.
